Chiropractic is a natural, safe, and conservative approach to health care. We communicate that the spine controls the nervous system and how your body responds to stress. So if there’s a breakdown in function or alignment in those areas, it’s going to create stress. Wherever that stress is based in your spine it could lead to many different health conditions such as sciatica, back pain, knee pain, headaches, and jaw issues like TMJ, all of which we can successfully address.

Chiropractors are primary care providers who are trained to evaluate, diagnose, and treat musculoskeletal conditions. Dr. Miry is looking for stress and misalignments in the area and then provides correction through the chiropractic adjustment.
“As chiropractors, we are often the first line of care for people who wish to avoid surgery and other invasive procedures,” said Dr. Miry.
The approach we take at San Ramon Chiropractic is different in that we focus heavily on the Cox Flexion-Distraction Technique, which is very specific to lower back issues. Cox uses a neutral position that doesn’t put a lot of stress on the spine.
The goal is distracting the bones and creating space for the discs and nerves. A lot of our patients use this technique for chronic lower back pain, sciatica, disc degeneration, nerve degeneration, and herniated discs. With pre and post MRIs being taken we can see the discs being reduced in size with Cox.

During your initial consult exam, we can figure out which treatment modality would be best for you. Some patients prefer a particular technique, and that’s fine too. But if you’re open to it, part of the advantage that we have is we’re going to utilize all those techniques-the reality is probably more of them together to find what’s best for your needs.
Millions of patients every year seek chiropractic care to alleviate pain, but also benefit from lifestyle counseling, such as assistance with achieving and maintaining proper posture, advice on ergonomic workstations, and improved sleep habits.
We love it when patients are surprised when they enjoy some unexpected benefits of their chiropractic care. For example, they may find that in addition to getting the complaint they came in with resolved, they’re sleeping better, or the heartburn has gone away or they don’t have asthma any longer.
Given the nationwide opioid epidemic, many people are seeking a natural way to address their pain. As recommended by many of the leading healthcare guidelines, chiropractic care plays an important role in reducing opioid use. According to some new research, patients with spinal pain who saw a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) had one-half the risk of filling an opioid prescription and a reduced chance of spine surgery.
