At our practice, we know that when you’re in an automobile accident, it can be a stressful and confusing time. We understand what you’re going through, and our goal is to make the process as simple as possible, to help you get out of pain as soon as possible.
You may think that because you weren’t going fast, your body didn’t sustain any damage. It’s important to know that there’s no such thing as a “minor” auto accident. Even being involved in a low-speed rear-end collision can tear ligaments and tendons in the neck.
Symptoms may arise days, weeks, months, or even years later. If you’re involved in an auto accident, your risk of developing issues like arthritis, degeneration, headaches, and neuropathy in the future increases.
Your neck is composed of seven bones stacked on top of each other. Between each bone is a shock-absorbing disc. Your neck is fairly flexible, and it depends on your muscles and ligaments for support. Whiplash injuries occur when the soft tissues of your neck are stretched too hard or too far during the impact. Compare it to a rope that frays when it’s stretched beyond its capacity.
Auto accidents are the primary cause of whiplash. Up to 83 percent of people involved in an accident will sustain a whiplash injury.
Symptoms may begin immediately or have a delayed start. You may experience ongoing dull neck pain that becomes sharper any time you move your head. You may feel the pain in the back of your neck, but it can migrate to your shoulders, or between your shoulder blades. Tension headaches often accompany neck injuries. Dizziness and TMJ problems may also arise, and other symptoms may increase over time.
Getting you back to your pre-accident state as soon as possible is our foremost goal. To do that, we will provide gentle, effective, and customized treatment to increase movement of your joints, reduce spasms of the muscles, and alleviate pain.
We will walk you through the entire process and allow you to focus on getting healthy.
I was just in an auto accident, what do I do now?
We recommend you come in and get checked first. We’ll verify your insurance, find you an attorney, and make sure everything’s covered. Don’t worry, we have an excellent network of attorneys we can refer you to.
Will insurance cover my care?
In most cases, the answer is yes. We work with all auto accident insurance companies and attorneys. Our office accepts liens, so in most cases, your treatment will be 100% covered. Many people have MedPay, an optional car insurance that covers medical bills, regardless of who is at fault for an accident, and don’t know it.
Do you handle the claim documentation?
Our office is skilled at filing all claims, providing documentation as needed, and following through to ensure you receive the maximum benefit you are entitled to.
